School Cool in K is helping to level the educational playing field for children in Kindergarten!

Running School's Cool in Kindergarten - School's Cool in K
Kindergarten is an almost universal experience for children in Canada. What’s not universal, are the experiences and skills they bring with them. Some may have had pre-school enrichment opportunities; others may not have. Some may face issues such as cultural diversity, family stress, or developmental delays. School's Cool in K, is helping level the kindergarten playing field!
School’s Cool in K delivers 24 sessions (72 hours) of very focused school readiness curriculum as part of the kindergarten curriculum - ensuring that those children who enter school unready have improved chances of success in school!

In 2006, the Ontario Trillium Foundation acknowledged the positive impact of delivering the School’s Cool program to children in kindergarten, by providing SIRCH with a Province-Wide grant to inform all Ontario school boards about the program. Through this provincial initiative, English, French, and Aboriginal school boards will receive information and support around the planning and implementation of “School’s Cool in K”. To ensure equal access to School’s Cool in K by Francophone school boards, the Ministry of Education (Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat, and French Languages Branch) funded the translation of all School’s Cool curriculum materials and training.
